INTRODUCTION
Premarital Sex in Indonesia
Over the last few decades, Pre-marital sex has been a fuss in our daily life, especially among high school and university students. According to the data, this number continues to increase in society, showing a change in people's behavior toward premarital sex. However, these actions can be seen in many different public opinions and might be an issue for some views. Furthermore, this topic is already discussed and spread everywhere on social media, but the audiences vary from those with enough education to uneducated.
Based on BMC research notes conducted by Arega, premarital sex occurs when young people at the age of ten to twenty-four have voluntary sexual intercourse without a final decision or so-called marriage. Sex between young adults is considered dangerous due to not enough awareness which could spread Sex Transmitted Disease (STD) and Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) (Arega,2019). Equally important, a study based on (GradesFixer, n.d.) concluded that the number of awareness in Indonesia is still relatively low and the majority of parents in Indonesia lack the information, abilities, or self-assurance essential to properly educate their children, making efforts to promote family-based sex education mostly ineffective. This raises mthe question, how many people are aware of the dangers of pre-marital sex and is a level of education a factor in the number of pre-marital sex happens in Indonesia?
In Indonesia, pre-marital sex is a taboo subject that is heavily influenced by religious and legal values. Islamic teachings emphasize the importance of purity and chastity, while Indonesian law prohibits pre-marital sex and imposes strict punishments for those who engage in it. Despite these prohibitions, some individuals still engage in pre-marital sex, leading to debates on its morality and ethics. The prevailing societal norms and legal restrictions make it a controversial subject (GradesFixer, n.d.).
With all those facts, our research group decided to take on action and investigate deeper about these problems to widen the view and raise awareness. The group also hopes that a solution can be found for those who have done pre-marital sex and those who have not, to create a more stable world in which people are not judged for what they have done.
